What is ISO?

Do you understand ISO?  This lesson will explain two key things you need to know about ISO.

ISO controls your camera’s sensor’s sensitivity to light.

1) How ISO affects light .  The higher your ISO, the more light your sensor can capture.  The lower the ISO, the less light your sensor can capture.

2) How ISO affects the quality of your image.  Digital camera sensors can show noise, which reduces the quality of your image.  The higher your ISO, the lower the quality of your image because it will have more noise.  The lower the ISO, the higher the quality of your image with less to no noise.

This video photo lesson will give you detailed examples of the two considerations for ISO for your photographs.
